Blimey it’s hot! Great news if you’re on holiday but if you’re working not so great. Its head down and get through August and look forward to the best month of the season, September.
Not quite sure about the “Tourist go home”, “Tourism is killing Mallorca” and “tourist saturation” campaigns. Whilst the protests aren’t really welcome I’m not quite sure they are actually a problem at the moment. Everybody I talk to tells me it’s one of the worst seasons for a long time. There’s lots of factors of course affecting this;
The hoteliers overpricing their beds.
The re-emergence of Turkey, Tunisia and Greece.
The World Cup.
The weather in the UK.
The Tourist Tax.
All things which have definitely affected the season.
The taxi strike on Tuesday probably didn’t help either as everybody arriving at the airport couldn’t get a cab. Not a great advert as you land and can’t get to your resort!
Just a thought why isn’t the Government promoting what they are spending the Tourist Tax money on? A video on that massive screen as you come through arrivals or pictures on the walls saying last year we raised….and this is what we have spent the money on. Keeping Mallorca the way we all love it for now and for future generations. Get Rafa Nadal to narrate the video as he’s a Worldwide name that everybody knows and loves. Shall I copyright that?
The best advertising campaigns are the ones that stick in your head and you associate a brand or a company with a particular song or piece of music but they are usually the ones that can become annoying too.
Airline Jet2 have responded after an increased number of complaints from passengers with regards to the repeated plays of ‘Hold My Hand’ by Jess Glynne on their flights.
The company have been using the hit single from her massive-selling 2015 album ‘I Cry When I Laugh’ extensively during recent advertising campaigns, and on their flights too.
A Jet2 spokesperson told NME: “Our ‘Hold My Hand’ concept is very popular with customers, and we receive a huge amount of positive feedback about both the advert and the song.”
You can see Jess Glynne on tour in the UK at the following venues;
Saturday August 4 – BEDFORD Bedford Park
Thursday November 15 – GLASGOW SSE Hydro
Saturday November 17 – MANCHESTER Arena
Sunday November 18 – BIRMINGHAM Genting Arena
Tuesday November 20 – LONDON O2
Wednesday November 21 – BRIGHTON Centre
Saturday November 24 – NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE Metro Radio Arena
Sunday November 25 – LEEDS first direct Arena
Tuesday November 27 – DUBLIN 3Arena
Thursday November 29 – CARDIFF Motorpoint Arena
Friday November 30 – NOTTINGHAM Motorpoint Arena
I interviewed Tony Hadley last week and it was a pleasure to speak to him. We talked about the Spandau days, the Jungle and his upcoming gig at Son Amar on Friday 24th. I know the guys here at the Bulletin will have a full interview for you next week.
There are lots of celebrities here on holiday and this past week at Pirates we’ve had from Loose Women, Coleen Nolan and from Saturday Night Takeaway and the 2016 Celebrity Jungle winner Scarlett Moffatt. Both lovely people who were happy to pose for photographs and chat backstage.
A couple of weeks ago we had the 2016 Love Island winners Cara and Nathan who announced last week in OK Magazine that they’re engaged to be married. A fitting time to do it seeing it was the final last Monday. Without doubt it’s ITV2’s most successful TV programme to date and as I’ve said before a great advert for the island. Let’s see if they return next year.

I mentioned last week the cost of the Real Mallorca season tickets and compared them to the Premier League. I’ve managed to find out that Mallorca have the 3rd cheapest price in the most expensive tickets at 255€. The most expensive is Malaga’s at 750€ and the least expensive is Albacete’s at 150€. Also in the cheapest tickets Mallorca rank 9th at 85€ with Rayo Majadahonda the cheapest at just 50€ and Numancia the most expensive at 285€.
The Football League starts this weekend, the Premier League next weekend and La Liga and La Liga 2 the weekend after.
My Wife is over the moon as you can imagine!
Enjoy Your Weekend!
